3.Do the java bytecode produced by javac after interpreting (executing
line one after other)or by compiling? If interpret then why say
java compiler rather interpreter?

The fact that 3. is there in your question, makes me think whether you are copying and pasting the question from somewhere?

May I know where the questions are coming from?

3. Come on Senthoorkumaran, don't you know all proper paragraphs begin like this?

3. I think we need a font that writes upside down, for these kinds of answers. Or one that writes on the back of the html page...

3. Anyway, this whole question is after all, open to interpretation, although such questions are scarcely worthy of compilation. Especially if you think of programming as an artistic endeavor. So why not say the Java compiler is an interpreter? Why indeed? Say what you will.

3. More seriously, simply go and look up (on google, dictinary.com, or any other compilation of interpretations of words) the definition of compiler and the definition of interpreter and the answer should be self-evident.

Hi Matt,

Thanks for enlightening me :-) Since my native Language is not English, may be unless someone points out I guess, it’s hard to figure these, new language developments (or are they there from the beginning and I just didn’t know them ???:-).

I was just starting to get to grips with capitalisation and full stops at the end of sentences. Darn.

There is such a thing. Just tell the reader to look on the back of the monitor.

Very philosophical answer. Were you in one of those Matrix movies?

Suggest substitution of the phrase iself-evident[/i] with obvious as former means evident without proof or reasoning with the latter meaning easily discovered, seen, or understood; readily perceived by the eye or the intellect. There is reasoning for difference of compiler and interpreter but to paraphrase Pierre de Fermat, there is not enough room here.

Annoying, aren't I?

Yes indeed. That should have been self-evident to me, obviously. At least that distinction is more a matter of splitting hairs, whereas the compiler/interpreter question seems more like parting hair or perhaps a case of tortoises and hares.

Dang. I guess I don't have a corner on that market!
