If you want to get an early jump on things you can now build Tapestry 4.0 from source. It does take a bit to build, and currently only works on Windows (as far as I can tell, one of the tests fails when building on OS X, which stops the build cold). These instructions will get you all the way through building and generating a jar file for you in jakarta-tapestry/target.
