Okay it sno longer a rumour on javagaming.org forums @java.net. The offical pr of Sun support of OpenGL-ES bindings for J2ME is here. Korean Telecom SK Telecom has already joined Kronous Group in support of OPenGL-ES for mobile devices.

What this means is that on MIDP2.0 devices instead of attempting to support lowerlevel 3D apis such as Vodafone's and several others thus fragementing 3D game dev efforts; one will be able to write to OpenGL-ES no matter if you are using C++ or Java on that device.

Bonuses to developers not only in a streamlined way to support 3D in a game engine for J2ME. But also, in the amount of plugins for OpenGL effects within Maya, Lightwave and other 3D graphics Modeling/Rendering Applications.
