Couldn’t make it to BoostCon'07, the inaugural annual Boost Conference? Here’s the next best thing--a lively trip report from one of its presenters.

Read this article from The C++ Source:

More info on Spirit2? I can't find anything on the web.

Spirit2 is not released yet. It is actively being developed in the Spirit subversion repository on SourceForge (http://sourceforge.net/projects/spirit). You can find the Spirit2 presentations checked into svn here: http://spirit.svn.sourceforge.net/viewvc/spirit/trunk/final/libs/spirit/doc/

If you are interested in staying abreast of Spirit2 development, I suggest adding yourself to the spirit-devel mailing list, which you can do from SourceForge.

What was the attendance?

All the best for the future of BoostCom - it is curious that the huge C++ community hasn't been able to sustain a conference, but maybe a more cohesive subcommunity can.

A question (perhaps the mailing list is a better place to ask?):

Why are the semantic actions inside the grammar? I think it would be better if I could express semantic actions on rules after the grammar is formed. It would keep the grammar separate from what the result of the parsing is.

For example:

rule<> add = double_ >> "+" >> &add;

action<> add_action = add[arg1 << _1];

It's really a great report, and i'm having regrets not to have come.
However, this report gives us many interesting informations on the future of Boost's libs and on the direction C++ take.
Thank you.

Bjarne, the attendance was about 90 or 95 people, if I recall correctly. We're already planning the next one. Or, I should say, Dave Abrahams is, since he's been the prime mover for BoostCon.

BoostCon was a success on all counts and we look forward to many more. I hope!

Yes, undoubtedly.

I know there has been talk about being able to separate actions from rules in Spirit-2, but I don't know what the status of that is. Best to get yourself over to the Spirit mailing list and have your voice heard.
