RadRails was one of the first IDEs to support Ruby on Rails development. Since Aptana, a commercial open-source vendor, took over the project last year, the Eclipse-based IDE has seen a host of new features and improvements.
RadRails 1.0, released earlier this month, provides a very rich set of Rails and Ruby development tools, in part because RadRails works with, and implements, the Eclipse Ruby Development Project (RDT).
In addition to support for Rails 2.0, syntax highlighting, debugging, code completion, integrated testing, Aptana's RadRails 1.0 offers the following features:
A new Rails Shell console
Bundled auto-installing gems for rails development
A Ruby profiler for Pro users
An RDoc preview view
Extended RHTML/ERb color preferences
Code completion for ActiveRecord model fields and finders
Code completion suggesting method call arguments
Significant expansion of code warnings and analysis, including syntax changes from Ruby 1.8 to 1.9
An improved look and feel
What do you think of RadRails 1.0? What is your favorite Rails IDE?
