Help Wanted about GUI

Hello,
I am working on an online Backgammon game, and all I have left to do are the graphics.
I need to put a picture as a background, cut it into 28 zones, so that when a user will click somewhere, my program will now from where to where he wants to move....
If you had some good samples, or advices to me it would be so helpful :-)
