In my humble opinion you should not avoid the use of a jdk for
your first months learnig Java. After that , and especially
whenever you encouter certain difficulty in your GUIs you can
conmute to a RAD enviroment . Jbuilder is said to be good, and the
entry level is downloadable for free. And again it is very good.
