i think, it doesn't works beause "/" is a special sign. to make the compiler accepting it, you have to put "//".Like

try{
Runtime.getRuntime().exec(
"c://pathname//java.exe -jar MyPgm.jar");
}
catch(IOException ioe){ioe.printStackTrace();}
