applet servlet cipher connection

Maybe you have tons of answers about my question but i didn't find nothing so don't hate me...

I've got an applet and a servlet communicating throw a stream... Now i want to protect that stream whit ssl and without using any plugin for the browser... I read that for the applet i need only to change the url in https when constructing the URL object... But for the servlet? What i have to do?
