Posted by Michael on February 26, 2001 at 7:42 PM

Hi ,

I'm trying to write a cookie to a certain path in unix through java, only problem is telling java to write the cookie to a certain directory , if i hardwire the code ie /users/michael/.netscape then it works fine but it wont work for $home or /~ - heres the code

if (newline.equals("SunOS"))
{
String newpath = "\$home/.netscape/";

as you can see i've already tried to escape the $ sign but it still doesnt work , any ideas would be great, if you do reply please reply to the website *and* my email address above
Thanks for the help
