what are daemons / for

Marking a "Thread" as a daemon thread means that it should
automatically be killed when no other (non-daemon) application
thread remains to be executed.

a daemon needs no care. you just create him and let him do what he is told to do, you dont have to worry. The gain: Although the daemon is independent in his doing and administered nowhere in your code, your application does NOT become a "zombie" process, when you finish: The jvm will terminate all the daemons when the other app classes are done.
