Can we execute .exe file within the browser running JSP/Applet or Javascript code

My requirement is to invoke a MFC GUI(which is .exe) on a button click inside a web browser. The GUI need not be invoked in the browser. It has to be invoked as normally would be if not using browser. The problem is to get the same affect from within the browser as clicking an icon on desktop to invoke the GUI. My GUI inside web browser is in Applet/JSP/Javascript Thanks
