self-extracting exe

I know that java.util.zip supports the streaming of data into zip format. Is it possible to encapsulate that stream in a self-extracting executable, so that the resulting file output stream is a self-extracting archive.

The important point in this is that it must be a compiled program that extracts without any need for java-specialized components.
