RubyMotion brings serious Ruby development to the iOS world
For the past several months I’ve been involved with, but unable to publicly discuss, an exciting project called RubyMotion. My friend Laurent Sansonetti, creator of MacRuby, has now officially launched a serious alternative to Objective-C for iPhone and iPad development. RubyMotion is not a bridge; it actually generates native...

FlashForms Designer - first look
Here's a preview of something rather interesting that we are currently developing. In the past, Amethyst's drag-and-drop Designer has been restricted to working with Flex. We thought it would be nice to have a similar designer for pure Flash-based projects. So Flash/ActionScript applications could be designed and debugged much as a Visual Basic...

No Excuses
I wrote this in response to a post on HN. I could link to the post, but it doesn’t matter. There are posts like this all the time. Stop making excuses. Go build something. This is going to sound more dramatic than it was, but here’s one way of summarizing the last five years of my life: I was 35, working at a great job as a...

Coffee and Code Scottsdale
I really enjoyed the weekly Coffee + Code gatherings Curtis Miller arranged. It was best at OSC Tempe, but sadly they’ve closed. It bounced around a few places (I liked Hob Nob’s but it had some issues) and has now ended up at Cohoots. That’s a shame, because you have to pay the co-working fee to attend, and it’s not a...

Ruby in 2012
Ruby is more popular than ever, but it’s also not as trendy as it used to be. rubylearning.com students1 asked a few questions to Matt Aimonetti about his vision of Ruby in 2012 and for the future. Matt Aimonetti is a well-known Rubyist, technical writer, speaker and active open-source contributor. He currently works as a [...] (Powered...

I think you should read my book :-) A new Cucumber site is in the works, and I’ll try to remember to feature the article prominently.

Nice work on Cucumber JVM! I'm just getting into gradle and wondered whether C-jvm works with it...
I haven’t tried Cucumber-JVM with Gradle. Please ask a more specific question on the Cucumber mailing list if you have questions about it. Others might be able to share their experiences.

I’m not aware of any replacements for RSCM. Feel free to fork it. It’s no longer of any use to me.

The first Cucumber release was in 2008. See History.md in the Github repo. BDD was a term coined by Dan North in 2004, and started to become popular in 2006.

Eval a Clojure Snippet in Java
The vast majority of the existing code for my current project is in Java, but the majority of the new code that we write is in Clojure; as a result, I spend quite a bit of time bouncing between Clojure & Java. Recently I was working with some Clojure code that was easily testable (in isolation) within Clojure, but was also executed as part of...
