The MyEclipse team has recently returned from the successful and informative IBM WebSphere Portal Technical Conference in Nashville. We were pleased to be welcomed there by IBM as a business partner and to promote MyEclipse Blue to WebSphere users.
While this was not a conference specific to tools, we were pleased to be able to meet WebSphere users where they are in their frustrations with tooling. We probably learned as much from the rather genial and inquisitive crowd as they did from us as we garnered advice and pain points of users' current tooling experiences. (More on this to come in the future, but suffice it to say, the crowd opened our eyes to tooling dilemmas that we are excited about tackling.)
The biggest benefit of this, and any, conference to Genuitec is the ability to meet our customers, or potential customers, and learn about their tooling woes "in the trenches." We heard many complaints about the weight of tool suites and the lack of portability.
Overall, this conference was a success for us, and it provided insight into many points of opportunity.
