Back in December it was announced that the release of JDK 7 was being pushed back to late 2010, possibly opening the door for one of the Project Coin changes that didn't make the cut to squeeze through. Joe Darcy has confirmed that improved exception handling has made it into JDK 7 and if you're eager to try it out will be in one of the next JDK 7 builds.
The changes covered in improved exception handling are :
- a single catch statement will be able to handle more than one exception type.
- improved checking for rethrowing exceptions when the catch parameter is declared final.
For a more detailed explanation have a look at the original proposal document.
