Today I got an email from Prometric regarding applying for a free voucher for the Sun Certified Developer for Java Web Services (SCDJWS) Beta Certification Exam.
These vouchers are available for the first 400 people.
Of course you have to site through 4.5 hours (174 questions), but do get bragging rights as being one of the first to be SCDJWS certified.
The best preparation book seems to be Richard Monsol-Haefe

l's J2EE Web Services book.
Also keep up with Java Ranch's Web Services Certification (SCDJWS) forum.
I know I won't be taking it as I am already studying for the SCBCD.
My next choice will be either this cert or go and do the SCWCD before it is revised.
Sun is definitely rolling out the certs, which I feel is a good thing.
