In a thread entitled Cheapest ping possible, Eric Hodel points out something interesting. In his followup he mentions that the OP should use a ThreadGroup instead of a plain array of threads to join later.
Why? Eric says, "A ThreadGroup doesn't hang on to dead threads, so if a thread finishes it will be garbage collected."
Good to know. :)
