I didn't particularly like Ruby the first time I met her. I thought she was interesting, but a few months later (to my surprise) something changed. I started seeing her appealing qualities. My friends really spoke highly of Ruby, so we started spending time together. The love affair began in February 2005 and about a month later, things started getting pretty bad with my wife, Java. Even when I was doing Java, I couldn't stop thinking of Ruby and how much better she is for me.
Over the next few months I spent more and more time with Ruby and less with Java. Even when I was with Java, I'd sometimes forget and try some of the new moves that Ruby taught me. That was really frustrating for both of us. Eventually I gave up on her and decided to just make things work with Ruby. We've since set off on lots of wonderful adventures together. We're especially excited about spending next weekend in San Diego with lots of our new friends.
As for Java, well, we filed for divorce not too long ago. My uninstallation of the JDK was the last straw. I know deep down inside I still love her. I mean, you can't just forget 8 years of good times together. I still see her on a regular basis. We've got kids together and lots of friends in common, but my heart definitely belongs to Ruby for now. Who knows, maybe someday we'll be having threesomes. ;-)
