What's the strangest, most off-the-wall thing anyone has ever said to you?
My last entry reminded me of something that happened one summer while in Madison. I was working for the Wisconsin Department of Revenue, right after I completed my undergraduate degree in Roman and Greek History. One day one of the other men there decided he wanted to have a "dialogue" about the fall of the Roman Empire, and its causes.
Him: "I have a theory as to what caused the fall of the Roman Empire."
Me: "Oh? What?"
Him: "Homosexuals and women."
I kid you not. I think I stood there, dumbfounded, for about five seconds before I said, "Oh", and walked off. Needless to say, the "dialogue" never happened.
On a completely unrelated note, it was that same job where I met one of the most beautiful women I've ever seen in my life. She was a half Native American (Menominee, if I recall) and half English woman who got the best of both - dark skin, long, black hair, beautiful face, great figure. Unfortunately, she was also a raving piece of trailer trash who spent half of every year on welfare...and bragged about it.
