There are many reasons why you would need to reset the XBOX 360. Here are some reason why you have to reset:
1. You want to sell it.
2. Someone gave you the box and it as parental lock on it. Now you want it remove.
3. You want to remove the gaming profile.
4. And many more.
Here it is, reset your device back to factory default setting.
1. Go to System Settings.
2. Go to Console Settings.
3. Go to System Info, now grab and write down the Dashboard serial number.
4. Now go back to System Settings.
5. Next select Memory.
6. Then go into the hard drive by select A button.
7. Next Press Y Device Options.
8. This step will require you to format the hard drive. So if you have anything that you wish to keep make sure you back them up into the USB device first. You can do so through Transfer Content option. Select the Format option.
9. On the next screen a warning dialogue will appear with a message
"This will remove all content on this device. Do you want to continue?"
Select Yes to proceed.
10. On the next screen it will ask you to Enter Serial Number. You got this number from step 3 above. Now fill in the Serial number.
11. Then press on Done.
12. When it ask you to confirm your action, select Yes and you are done.
