I came across this project a while ago, but it seems to really be picking up steam.

If you're looking for a very flexible and feature-rich library for creating diagrams and graphs, then definitely check out Netron.  It's free and  open-source, with some excellent examples.  There are also several projects in the works that build on top of Netron, such as an great TreeControl library.
