After using the Swisscom Mobile 5in1 (UMTS / HSCSDPA / EDGE / GPRS / WLAN) PC-Card for almost two years, I switched to a MacBook Pro that does not have a PC-Card slot (only PCI-Express...). Duh.

Anyway, Swisscom offers a 4in1 (UMS / HSCSDPA / EDGE / GPRS) external USB Modem - details here - but there is hardly any information about it on the net. There is no word about it on their Unlimited product page...

The hardware is a Huawei E220 and - very nice feature - when plugged in is recognized as an USB disk that contains all the drivers necessary to use the device. Works fine under Vista and XP. It also works very nice with the UMPC, which doesn't have a PC-Card slot either.

There are no driver updates to be found anywhere, but the provided ones work fine, are rather small, fast and way less troublesome than the drivers provided for the Swisscom Mobile Unlimited PC-Card.

So, all in all, I am very happy with the gadget!
