Of course, TFS and VSTS haven't even hit Beta 2 yet so there is no reason to even talk about performance in relation to them. The performance I am talking about is in trying to run the two VPC VMs on top of Win2K3. It's slow as a dog - almost unusable. The major reasons:

1. I just don't have enough virtual memory allocated. I really need 2 GB. I only have 1 GB on this Toshiba Notebook and I was forced into 256MB for the Data Tier and 256 MB for the App Tier just to get them both up at the same time. That is just not going to work even for two regular Win2K3 machines. The Install Guide recommendsMachine Recommended (and for good reason):
   

   Virtual Machine	Recommended Memory Allocation
   Application/Client Tier	900 MB
   Data Tier	600 MB

2. I have done the smart thing and put the VMs on a separate drive spindle, as Scott mentions here. It's on a really fast iomega USB 2.0 drive but here's the kicker: DON'T forget to de-fragment!! One of the reasons it's running like a dog is that the USB drive is 30% fragmented! De fragmenting now. It gets worse; the constant churn of un-install and install has rendered the Host OS 63% framented!!
