Alan thinks the Wikipedia's "official" visual representation of the SDLC reveals horrors.

Alan, if you think that's bad, I suggest you type "SDLC" into Google, switch from Web Search to Image Search, and take a look at the first link that shows up there.

I tried the above resource and it seems to be a dead link.

I looked around and found good <a href="http://www.if4it.com/SYNTHESIZED/FRAMEWORKS/LEARNING/it_learning_framewor k.html">SDLC</a> material in "The <a href="http://www.if4it.com/SYNTHESIZED/FRAMEWORKS/LEARNING/it_learning_framewor k.html">IT Learning Framework</a>" that is published by <a href="http://www.if4it.com">The International Foundation for Information Technology</a> (<a href="http://www.if4it.com">IF4IT</a>). Their content seems to be open and I thought it far more detailed than sources like Wikipedia.

Hope this helps.

You may also want to look at the following SDLC framework: http://www.if4it.com/SYNTHESIZED/FRAMEWORKS/SDLC/sdlc_framework.html

Unlike the SDLC on wikipedia, this one uses the work performed in environments as SDLC phase boundaries, which is what successful IT organizations tend to follow.
