Finally, we're getting our own Bar Camp!
Bar Camps were born from the desire to attend O'Reilly's Foo Camp, but space is always limited and it's invitation only. So the idea of a Foo Camp complement called Bar Camp was hatched and is popping up all over the country.
I was planning to blog about the RDU Bar Camp needing space but Red Hat has already stepped up and offered facilities... thanks guys!
Here's a short quote from the Wiki describing a Bar Camp.
A BarCamp is an unconference where people interested in a wide range of technologies come together to teach and learn. Unfamiliar with unconference? Here's the idea in a nutshell. Rather than having scheduled speakers, everyone pitches sessions the morning of the BarCamp. Those sessions are put on a schedule, and lots of little groups form for intense group learning. Yeah, its different from a regular conference - but it works!
Should you attend? Not unless you like learning new things. Not unless you don't mind sharing what you know.
It should be a blast. I've already signed up on the Wiki. I'd suggest you do the same.
Jared
