If tonight's lead ad is any indication (it ran during the 1st half of the Giants game), then Apple should have no worries. The ad missed in so many ways that it's not funny:
- No humor
- looooong
- No mention of Windows, Microsoft, or Vista until the last few seconds
Who thought shoes that don't seem to fit was a good idea? I know what the metaphor there is supposed to be (Apple=closed, Windows=open), but - they didn't actually make that point. And who thought that going on, and on, and on without making that point was a good idea?
The main point the ad seems to make? Bill Gates' butt is moist and tasty (I kid you not). Stop the ad run now, before it gets worse.
Update: See for yourself - here's the ad on YouTube.
Update 2: Oh, this is a great comment from the Gizmodo post:
I think it's appropriate how these campaigns reflect their respective operating systems: Mac vs PC is user-friendly and to the point. Gates & Seinfeld is convoluted and confusing.
Pretty much sums it up
