Last week, we were watching "Poltergeist" with my daughter, who's 15. There's a scene where everyone is asleep, and the TV goes to the National Anthem, and then off the air - and that's the part we had to explain to my daughter. When we told her that yes, stations did used to go off the air, her one word response was "seriously?"
