You have to hand it to Sun. After C# came out, they decided they had to add features. As one of the Java bloggers points out, they added a mass of complexity. Templates (like C++), additional keywords to muck things up - the works. They really don't get this simplicity thing. There's Smalltalk and Python and Ruby as examples of simplicity and power - and there's the Sun crew, not understanding a bit of it. Meanwhile, there's Gosling discovering the power of parse trees - apparently, he's under some delusion that doing that kind of thing is "new" and "radical".
Come on over to the dynamic language side of the fence guys - the productivity is great, and the complexity is low. You might even save your job from being outsourced :)
