I was chatting to somebody over lunch a couple of days ago and we got talking about how tricky the CVS support in IntelliJ IDEA was to setup. For me, CVS configuration is one of those things that once I've got it working I try not to touch too much for fear of it breaking! Although it did work in IDEA 3.0, I've yet to try it out in the EAP builds...

Now that more and more people are starting to use Pebble, I thought that it was about time to put some organisation behind tracking issues, tasks and feature requests. So, thanks to the guys at Atlassian, there's now a JIRA instance running here. I'm still in the process of setting up the appropriate releases, components, etc but if you have any...

I was sitting on the train this morning listening to my iPod and having a look around the extra features when came across the Contacts application. It's not something that I've paid attention to before because I generally only use my iPod for playing music. One of the great things about Mac OS X is that you get a whole bunch of applications for...

Each entry in my current RSS feed shows the number of comments and TrackBacks that have been received, much like the links that are below each entry on my blog. Although the blog entry pubDate stays the same, the actual content gets updated when somebody responds.
While this is useful, it does mean that aggregrators that...

This is what happens when you get a load of techies in one place. We thought that it would be a good idea to put together a quick blog entry about Martin Fowler's PowerBook while we were in the pub. So, Sam preceded to get out his BlackBerry and, a few HTTP requests later, an entry was posted on his <plug>Pebble powered</plug>...

The meetup was good last night and in addition to the usual suspects, a whole load of ThoughtWonkers turned up which was good - it's always nice to see some new faces, even if most of them left after a while to go the the Extreme Tuesday Club!
Chatting was typically free and flowing (like the beer, thankfully not Red...

The title says it all really - I've uploaded version 1.4 beta 1 of Pebble to the SourceForge servers. Unfortunately their servers have been playing up today, but when they come back online you'll be able to get the new release from here. Also available is a user guide and change log. As usual, feedback is always appreciated.
TrackBacks...

I use NetNewsWire on my Mac but I've never really settled on a reader for my PC, especially when I'm at work. So, I finally got around to installing Sam's little RSS reader called RssReaper. It's still in the early stages but it works really well. Also, being web-based (like bloglines), you can get your news from anywhere. Sam is planning...

I noticed yesterday that java.blogs now supports XML-RPC update pings in the same way that sites like weblogs.com do. Pebble has been able to ping weblogs.com for a while now and I committed some changes to the CVS head last night to allow it to ping any compatible site. This will be in Pebble 1.4 which I am aiming to get out in beta this week. By...

I visited my parents over Christmas and my dad gave me a demo of his new Garmin iQue 3600. It's basically a PDA running Palm OS that comes complete with an integrated GPS (global positioning system) solution. I was so impressed that I had to go out and buy one. Okay, I didn't have to buy one, but it's certainly going to come in useful now...
