Say for example that you want to unit test a Service Locator - a class that looks up data sources, topics, queues, etc from JNDI. How would you go about doing this?
One option would be to simply setup a JNDI environment inside a J2EE application server and write some JUnit tests to run inside the container. While this...

Once again we had an increase in the number of people that showed up and we almost had to grab another of the long tables in SOS! Sorry I didn't get a chance to chat to all of you - hopefully next time. Of the people that I did chat...

Part of the project that I'm working on at the moment is going to be built on WebSphere 5.0 and although I've used other app servers (e.g. WebLogic, JBoss, etc), the IBM product set is new to me. As I understand it, WAS comes in 4 versions:
Express (web apps only)
Standalone (full J2EE but no clustering)
Network...

I popped down to the JSIG today, the topic of which was Eclipse. Unfortunately I had a 2pm meeting so could only stay for the first presentation by Berthold Daum (author of Eclipse for Java Developers) which was an overview of Eclipse, SWT and plugin development.
The first part of the session took a look at Eclipse itself,...

My latest article entitled Use Custom Tags to Aggregate RSS Feeds into JSP-Based Web Apps has been published on SitePoint, a website specialising in information about web development and design. As Sam said earlier, SitePoint are having a "Spotlight on Java and J2EE" week where they are publishing a new Java/J2EE article every day. Here's the...

As I mentioned a couple of days ago, I've just made the 1.0 release of TagUnit available. You can grab a copy from here. Enjoy and I hope you find it useful.
