I've seen quite a few questions on the boards int he past month regarding posting files using the UploadFile method of the WebClient class. So, I thought I'd post some information that may help answer some of the most common questions regarding posting files to a remote server using the HTTP POST command. #1. When using the UploadFile method, you...

I guess I never noticed this, but I was working on my Mac writing a Q&A article for Visual Studio Magazine and saw my word count down in the bottom status bar of Word (next to pages, Sections, etc). Anyway, I synced my changes back up when I connected to the LAN, and then opened the document on my Windows PC with Word 2003. And? You guessed it ...

Robert McLaws likes the look of the new MSN web page, including that new big butterfly that comes flying on the screen with a large crash when the page loads. This is one of the newest JavaScript tricks that web designers are using to insert commercial and other crap I don't care to see when I load the page. What's really bothersome is that sites...

I've been trying to get information on whether there's an open API, web service, page call, or even screen scraper (gasp!) technique that I can use to query a list of Xbox Live users (Gamertags) with other useful information (like location/State, current status, etc. I see this information available to me in my Friends list within an Xbox Live...

I was watching The Tonight Show this evening while proofing my lastest Q&A article for Visual Studio Magazine, when Jay Leno brought up this actual event during his Headlines bit. Apparently, a man robbed a liquor store at gunpoint and demanded all of the cash from the register. He then asked for some liquor, but the cashier declined saying that...

Microsoft is planning on releasing InformationWeek > Office 2003 SP1 by late May, with a release candidate available in April. Supposedly there will be some major feature updates to InfoPath and OneNote bundled with the service pack.

KC Lemson has a great post on how to remove the lingering collaboration information from MS Office documents. Even by accepting all comments, Office still leaves behind some information embedded in the document - stuff that you might not want to have accessed if putting an electronic Office document out in the open. Good stuff.
