Well, along with the Visual MainWin for J2EE product anouncement from Mainsoft comes the post from Miguel that Mono is being used in the product. Definitely another feather in Mono's cap.

Tonight I presented on Mono at the Orlando .NET User Group meeting. Besides the fact that the overhead was not working, hence I flew solo (no slides), I think it went over well. There seemed to be a good percentage of the group who knew about Mono and even did some development with it. You can download the PowerPoint slides from my talk here.

Thanks to Jonathan Wells and his generosity, I now have a sweet .NET Compact Framwork poster, Starter Kit, and Microsoft Mobility 2003 Conference DVD. The goodies are much appreciated.

I noticed that SourceBeat has some titles out already, with others in the works for mid 2004 release. I am suprised Matt has not made mention of his Spring Live title that he is going to be putting out. From his outline it seems he will be covering all the opensource tools that he has been integrating into AppFuse, such as Spring, Hibernate,...

There is a good developerWorks article comparing the Linux 2.4 and 2.6 kernels for Web s 400 erving. The web and application servers used for testing were Apache, Tomcat, WebSphere and Jboss. The results are very favorable for the new Linux 2.6 kernel.

I scored an 80% (missed 3 out of the 15) on the Applying Enterprise JavaBeans Quiz over at java.sun.com. I am very interested in the new functionality in J2EE 1.4 with the introduction of Web Service endpoints. Between the J2EE 1.4 Tutorial and J2EE Web Services in my Safari bookshelf, I should have enough to read on the next J2EE version...

There is another Linux distro out there, this one is coLinux. What separates it from the others is its claim of being able to run "cooperatively alongside another operating system on a single machine". Therefor, you don't need VMWare or Virtual PC to run Linux and Windows side-by-side, definitely worth a look. Mono 0.30 is out and "net results are...

Well thanks to my joining the Longhorn Readiness Program for ISVs I was able to get: 1) A free copy of the official Microsoft PDC 2003 Conference DVD, 2) A free copy of the "Developer Guide to Migration & Interoperability in 'Longhorn'." They came in today, so I am anxious to get into the PDC session content. Funny thing is I got two shipments of...
