Those of you who know me personally have heard about the great time I have had working for Telligent Systems Systems the last couple of months. We have a lot of great projects under development and as some of the work starts becoming public knowledge, you are going to see a lot of really cool stuff. However, to get there, we are...

I found a link to JetBrains new aggregator (and more) Omea over on Matt Berther's blog. Omea Reader is a tool which combines an RSS/ATOM feed reader, a newsgroup reader and a Web bookmark manager in a single easy to use interface. Omea Reader includes the full range of information management features of Omea Pro, including fast searching,...

We still have a little more work to do on the home page (more details later) and need to address the Http 1.0 requests and requests without file extensions which are currently not HttpCompressed, but you should now see the following changes: The first 1250 characters of posts on the home page Full-Text in the main RSS feed. Thanks for all...

Brian is asking for feedback on the pro-posed directly name changes for ASP.Net 2.0. See more details in his forum post. I probably would not have changed bin to application_assemblies, since the name bin is used on other platform/tools as well. Changing directory names is not that big of a deal, but it is great to see they (ASP.Net Team)...

XML know it all, Kirk Allen Evans, will be gracing NJ with his presence tomorrow. Don is putting together a dev/geek dinner after the N3GU meeting. Chances are I will not be able to make it. I have a ton of things to get done this week and I am not sure I can fit a 65 mile ride(each way) in it. Update: Hey Don, if you move...

Many of you have probably already heard the story... A couple of months ago, Steve Smith got notice that he was being "called back" to the Army. Steve is a very notable member of the ASP.Net community (MVP, ASPInsider, ASPAlliance, etc). I figured I would see an email or two here or there from him. However, he has managed to keep himself rather...

I finally got a chance to put Ben's HttpCompression module up this site. I had to make one minor tweak to it. During the check for excluded documents, the empty value returned on the home page for Request.Path* was causing an causing an exception. After I posted the change it looks like all of the pages are now using...

I have been meaning to point out Milan Negovan's excellent ASP.Net site, ASPNETResources. A bunch of great posts and sample code usually geared towards creating a more standards based and accessible site. I will be rolling out his Producing XHTML-Compliant Pages With Response Filters HttpModule when I push the latest build of...

One of things we do weblogs.asp.net to make creating new blogs as simple as possible is map all requests to the aspnet_isapi.dll. This enables the creation of a new blog by adding a single entry in the database. Nothing else needs to happen and the blog is now available on the entire cluster. Mapping all requests to the aspnet_isapi.dll does...

The Community Server :: Blogs (formerly .Text) forum has moved to CommunityServer.org. You can now find it @ http://www.communityserver.org/default.aspx?ForumGroupID=30 If you have any suggestions or requests, now would be a good time to hop over to the new forum and post away. :)

Adrian Bateman posted a couple suggestions for WSE hashed password issue I wrote about a couple of days ago: In an enterprise application, you might be able to deploy PKI machine certificates with your client application. This gives you the opportunity to encrypt message including the UsernameToken and so the password can be sent without...

I finally got a chance to publish a new site design. The CSS and general layout is much cleaner. Much of the CSS is based off of Dan Cederholm's excellent SimpleBits. There are a couple of new goodies in place which need to be enabled/finished in the coming days. The real goal of this build was to start using CS:Blogs as my own mini-CMS instead...

I tried this before and got a lot of great feedback when looking for a new FTP tool, so I figured we'll give it another shot. I spend way too much time "hacking" my way through CSS. I think it is time to really get a better understanding. So if you had to pick one CSS book, what would it be? Thanks!

I found a TrackBack this morning from Anatoly Lubarsky's blog about Microsoft's acquisition of my favorite Outlook search tool, Lookout. According to the Lookout site, the news is true. Best of luck to the guys behind Lookout, but please MS make sure this tool gets completed and released. I am NOT willing to go back to your search!
