It seems that everyone I know is getting a job at Google. However, google doesn't have a bazillion products and at least a large number are relatively technologically simple (that's not a bad thing, I mean in an elegant way). I just wonder what they are doing with so many A-list geeks, many of whom are more qualified to lead than...

A number of people from JBoss read this blog. And many of those are on the dorky side of geekdom (sorry but its true, you know who you are) and hence like thinks like AD&D and RPG (as opposed to ADD and RPG ;-) ) so they must not read this or JBoss will probably be destroyed or at least "winged" in productivity. Luckily, I never was much...

Today I heard on the news that the FDA is planning to rubber-stamp milk and meat from cloned cows. It will not require special labeling. Most economic models underlying price theory and well capitalism require that the buyer is "informed". However most consumers do not try to become informed. Those that do, find that the information is hidden...

This story talks about how IBM rips off big companies. This happened at every big company I ever worked for at least in part of the company. Wait till they sink you with DB2 and AIX. I used to think that BSD was just about as good as a TRS-80 for running Java.... AIX...it is worse. Tune that sucker to death and it is still slow. Even more fun...

So Eprham is somewhere between 18 and 19 months or something like that. My sweet baby boy has been replaced with a demanding whining tyrant. He's still cute as all dickens, don't get me wrong (its odd how his mothers features balance out mine -- my klingon forehead actually looks cute on him and thankfully he inherited her chin and not...

While working on the izpack installer for the upcoming JBoss Mail Server 1.0M4 release, I saw this post about the 64k method limit and I was sad to read: I believe Java SE 6 will remove those restrictions. in a comment from a Tom Hawtin. Personally, any quirk of the VM that fast fails the creation of an 8000 line JSP file, I would consider a...

Today I was listening to WUNC, our local NPR station when I heard a story/interview (will probably be here by tomorrow) about Kayla Williams and her new book called Love my Rifle More than You. Curiously, one of the reviews caught my eye: first off, i want to start by saying that i have not read this book yet. i do not intend on buying it and...

When I few back from the cesspool last week, I flew on ValuJetAirtran. I actually like flying Airtran, because they don't sardine can you in too much. One new thing they are doing is providing XM radio. I will probably never own XM because paying for radio makes me feel guilty that I don't send twice that much per month to NPR...
