I had the opportunity to attend a MS internal/partner focused event called the IW Summit in Orlando this week. The focus of the event is on demonstrating the value of our information worker technologies and solutions to customers. I had a good time, and participated as a panel speaker in a session earlier today focused on SharePoint and...

So I saw that Michael Howard commented on a post I made last night... only, it isn't really him. Who is it? I'm not sure. But it does remind me that we need good identity management for weblogs. Perhaps we need it for the web in general, although efforts on that scale are hard to get traction. What are your thoughts on how we should manage...

Scoble gets a new Tablet PC. I'm definitely. My Tablet at Microsoft is one of the older models. I'm curious to know what Robert likes best about the new one. I'd like to get a new one early next year. With as much evangelism as he does for the Tablet PC, I'm surprised he's not working for that team full time.

The VSData weblog has a post on the use of the .NET framework in various Microsoft applications, including internal and external applications. The authors points out that it isn't reasonable to expect a wholesale shift to a new technology. The migration to .NET will be incremental, but is beginning to increase rapidly.

Ed Bott has a post on SP2 performance. The verdict is no difference in performance. I hadn't studied this, but I'm glad to see that the concerns that have been expressed to me are unfounded. Most people suffering from performance problems tend to have some resource intensive program running that they're not aware of.

I'm looking for feedback from those that view this weblog. Are you opposed to any sort of personal entries? Would you be interested in some personal commentary, or would you rather that this weblog only be focused on industry topics and/or MS technology-related issues? How about industry events? What should the scope of this weblog include? And...

Great comments from Dare on the comparison of Google Desktop Search and WinFS. Among them, the following: "Tools like Lookout and Google Desktop Search are a crutch to get around the fact that the file navigation metaphor on most desktop systems is past its prime and is in dire need of improvement."
