Chapter 1 made it through the copy editing and is now in the hands of the layout/typesetter (not sure what they're called now) and I'm just about finished with the Chapter 2 rough draft. There are also some interesting discussions going on on the mailing list about Tapestry 5. The discussion was spurred on by this message from Howard,...

Howard has created a nice drop-in for integrating Tapestry with Spring. You can find this at Tapestry Spring@JavaForge. This will be used in Chapter 5:Tapestry and IoC.

Hi all, just wanted to give you a quick update on things. Chapter 1 is almost done with the new changes that 4.0 has brought from the previous betas, just a few updates and then on to copy-editing. Additionally, I have made a switch in the application that I was going to be using for demonstrating Tapestry 4.0, this has unfortunately required...

So, the JUG meeting that Howard kindly presented at seemed to spur me on and I got about 19 pages written on various chapters so far this week, this has encouraged me to try and keep the trend going. Tonight I cracked open DreamWeaver and Illustrator to fix some CSS issues and add a new logo to the application that the book is based off of...

Howard came into town again last night and I managed to coax him to come out to our JUG and do some short presos on HiveMind and Tapestry 4.0. While he spoke I decided to get another jump on my chapters and got quite a bit done on the new chapters. Chapter 2 is now well underway and 3 and 4 have some good TOCs going. I just have the rewrite of...

I've received a number of requests for a chapter on portlet support, here and on the mailing list. What kind of information would people be interested in in the chapter? Here are some points I can think of off the top of my head: Creating a portalConfiguring our portalCreating and adding portlets to our portal Another question I have is...

The fourth beta release of Tapestry 4.0 is now available. Tapestry is a component based web application framework that provides lots of functionality with minimal Java coding, and creates an environment that supports high levels of reuse. This is another a bug fix release, building on the beta-3 release. Key areas covered are fixes for minor...

That's right, next week I will be at O'Reilly's OSCON with the rest of the SourceBeat crew. I'll be hanging with the Tapestry crowd as much as possible too, I hear Erik Hatcher, Howard Ship and Chris Nelson are going to be there as well. I'm also busy on the chapter 1 rewrite as well as first drafts for chapters 2 and 3...

Hi all, Chapter 1 is almost off to the Tech Editor and Chapter 2 is underway. As part of Chapter 1 I have a small section on the Inspector component and I was just curious how many of you current Tapestry users actual use the InspectorButton for anything useful. If not, do you primarily use it for debugging applications in progress or something...

If you want to get an early jump on things you can now build Tapestry 4.0 from source. It does take a bit to build, and currently only works on Windows (as far as I can tell, one of the tests fails when building on OS X, which stops the build cold). These instructions will get you all the way through building and generating a jar file for you...
