If you want to get an early jump on things you can now build Tapestry 4.0 from source. It does take a bit to build, and currently only works on Windows (as far as I can tell, one of the tests fails when building on OS X, which stops the build cold). These instructions will get you all the way through building and generating a jar file for you...

So, there is a discussion going on right now on the Tapestry Users list about which two features you would like to see fixed. The initial question is posited below by Patrick Casey: Suggestion 1: Fix Rewind There are other web gui frameworks I've worked with (.NET for one) that don't have all the rewind problems that Tapestry does. For...

By now I expect that most Web Developers have heard of Ajax, if not I highly recommend you read through the preceding link. In short Ajax is a way to do dynamic Web applications without the browser round-trip (now the round-trip is done through JavaScript). We have some industrious folks in Tapestry-land who have started implementing some...

Welcome to the first post on the Tapestry Live blog, currently I am working on the first couple of chapters and should have them off to SourceBeat for editing by early next week. And it looks like it's official, the next version of Tapestry will be version 4.0. After some discussion on the list everyone has decided that there are enough...

Well, some of you already know that I've been working on getting a new book contract and this is it! I just signed with SourceBeat publishing to do a Tapestry book for them. This book will hopefully not be too far behind a 4.0 (was 3.1) release and will walk through the building of an entire application. The application will be significantly...

I've been interested in looking at Ruby for quite a while, but I thought that I'd learn Python first. Several things about Python kindof turned me off, the major one being code formatting. But there's also something about the Python community I wasn't that thrilled about, call it a gut feeling. I also like using tools where they make sense, not...

So, I haven't had a chance to log in to the Danger Developer area for a while so I decided to check it out and lo and behold they have a new SDK pre-release of a J2ME environment. The phone doesn't support it yet, but it will in the near future. This is excellent news! In order to check this out you must create a developer account at...
