I came across a ten page ASP.NET FAQ that was posted on the ASP.NET Forums. You can find the FAQ here: Wintellect - FAQ The Wintellect FAQ is a nice link that should come in handy for both beginner and advanced ASP.NET programmers.

I always wondered why hidden__viewstate will still be present in a page's source, even when the entire page's viewstate has been disabled. Apparently you can get rid of this field by eliminating the <form runat="server"> tag. You can find the discussion about this at the ASP.NET forums here: Thread: page enableviewstate=false
