Are you serious a release candidate for beta 1 of Indigo? Yes, its true and its here. What ever happen to community tech previews? I envision a lot of confused souls in the Indigo newsgroups in the near future. Also, if you are going to play around with the MSMQ channel in Indigo, make sure to download the MSMQ 3.5 beta. That's right it's...

Well, I guess I haven't had enough change in my life the past year. My employer, Attachmate, has been purchased by an investment group who also recently purchased WRQ; a fierce former competitor of Attachmate. WRQ, a seattle (thank goodness) mainframe/integration ISV and Attachmate will merge and form a new company. This is terribly exciting...

So, there will be no WS-Eventing in the first release of Indigo [1]. That is fine with me, I would rather have the product shipped then wait on this feature. I have heard some people say that the WS-Eventing specification is trivial. Which is true, however, it is the reliable and scalable implementation of the specification that can lead to...

I had a couple of comments in response to my entry about Indigo's peer-to-peer support. The response has manifested into two separate issues. The first issue is centered on the fact that the duplex contract example that I pointed at is not truly peer-to-peer. And, I would have to agree that the example is not a true peer-to-peer pattern...

Who says that Indigo doesn't do peer-to-peer communications? Check out Steve Maine's entry on Duplex contracts in Indigo. The post really resonates with me as I just got home from a loooong 3 days in Vegas and spent a fair amount of time interoperating with the IDealer service. Only if I could have found a security hole.

One PSP for me -- my wife reserved a PSP on launch date for me.. I guess it was difficult to find stores that still had units left to reserve on the Eastside of Seattle; most stores only had availability for later shipments. So, if you dig these sort of gadgets, you best better reserve a unit asap. The PSP is a...

After a busy couple of days, I have had the chance to digest and reflect on all the Indigo information that was slinged at us in San Francisco. It started with a keynote about Indigo from Eric Rudder and the shock and awe demonstration of Indigo's simplicity. He showed how a secure and reliable distributed Hello World app with 57,000 lines of...

I am off to attend Indigo Day early next week in San Francisco. I hope to blog the various talks and get a couple a questions answered too. MTOM and XOP Reach Rec Status - The future of DIME and SwA has officially ended. Unfortunately, the binary infoset's future is just beginning. . MEST Permathread - A pretty interesting thread is...

Steelers lost, my wife is sick, and my house still hasn’t sold in Omaha. Oh well at least it is 60 degrees here. WS-Addressing Loses Some Weight – Reference properties were removed from WS-Addressing this past week and provided some cheers and jeers from the community this past week. I am curious how existing...

I will be attending Indigo Day at VSLive on Feb 8th. So if anybody would like to catch up and talk about the next generation of services on the .Net platform contact me. It should be insightful and fun. Also, in a response to my post on the Indigo Newsgroups, Ford McKinstry says we should see a CTP of Indigo soon after VSLive.

It is interesting the lack of quality time I have with my computer when my in-laws are in town and you are forced to have mini vacations every day. In the last three days I have been to Pike’s Place Market, the Space Needle, Pioneer Square, Snoqualmie Falls, Rainforest cafe, Family Fun Center and every mall...

The Service Herald has been reborn in a weekly format. This rebirth is purely because of selfish reasons as I really miss looking back and understanding what resources compelled me enough to link to them. Predictions for 2005 – Ok.. they were a lot of predictions and a handful of service specific...

Rocky reminds us all about the “Indigo Day” coming up at VS Live next month. And he also briefly discusses the importance of Indigo regardless of your distributed architecture preference. I couldn’t agree more. Whether you prefer client/server, peer/peer, n-tier, ws-*, or good ole queueing systems our choices will...

It's official comments are off and spammers are not cool. Sigh.

My predictions for services in 2005 in sort of a Q&A format. Actually, now that I think about it maybe these aren’t my predictions for 2005 but more along the line of my wishes for the upcoming year. The Question: Will we see additional spec(s) from Microsoft and company released to the W3C or Oasis...
