A 46 page quick ref, eh? You and I have a different definition of "quick reference" Bruce. No, thanks. What is the "batteries included" approach to the Python standard libraries?

From Bill de hÓra:Libraries. This is where Python is head and shoulders above Ruby. But again it's a transient difference. if enough people show up with code, Ruby will get libraries.Yeah, Bill, bad news. By my estimation, Ruby actually has about twice as many libraries as Python at this point. Most insightful to me was when Sam Ruby reverted to...

Tim Kring in a Wired interview: "My job has changed from being in the writing and editing room," Kring says, with some surprise, "to managing a brand." Yep, and the results show. A weak ending to Season 1 did not inspire confidence, but I was willing to stick with it this year. Season 2 has been disappointing so far - too many characters,...

I saw lambda.pm via PerlBuzz last night. Here it is in Ruby: module Kernel alias λ proc end The only "trick" is that you have to run with the -KU switch (or set $KCODE). Unicode out of the box, indeed.

I recently got tasked with one of those, "I need you to whip up a web interface" tasks that doesn't require anything nearly as heavy as J2EE/Rails/Catalyst/Whatever. A couple forms, one table, maybe a login screen. About 10 users, total. You know, the sort of thing you used to use CGI for.But CGI is so, like, 90's man, and I wanted something...

The Win32Utils project is the first project in RubyForge history (that I know of) to reclaim a "Top Project Downloads" position. We were in 11th place, but dropped to 12th when Watir passed us several weeks ago. In the last day or so Win32Utils passed Watir, so we're back in 11th.How did it happen? I've been tracking daily downloads somewhat,...

Today I hooked up my MS Natural Ergonomic Keyboard 4000 to my Mac tower. It even came with software for the Mac! Works great.I think I like the little "zoom" button best. :)
