Here are some decent tools I've found handy in measuring my internet connection - especially when using VOIP.InternetFrogPingPlotterThe internet frog VOIP test not only measures up/down speeds, but also measures dropped packets and latency in the connection. PingPlotter provides tracert statistics over a period of time. PingPlotter is a...

I blogged a few weeks ago about a firefox bug when toggling a tbody tag to display or hide. When declaring the section to be hidden, I set the tbody tag's display style to "none". When attempting to show the tbody I was setting the display style to "incline" ( I also tried "block" which did not work either).A co-worker found that simply...

I just finished wiring up telerik's TabStrip control for the first time. The experience was pretty painless. For background, we have a page that displays a large amount of data. This data is all hidden/shown client-side using javascript. The previous implementation was using links that called the show/hide function. To implement their...

I run into this infrequently enough that I have to search on the properties. Since I usually have a hard time finding the details...Using the "Bindable" attribute on a public property will make this property available through the design-time properties and settable on the aspx. The aspx setting for the following property would...

This is more of an fyi post than anything because I didn't immediately find out about this behavior with a quick google search. When toggling the display style of the tbody between "none" and "block", the FireFox rendering engine causes the resulting table to be completely misrendered. Multiple columns under tbody will be rendered in the...

David Anderson posted the first part of a series looking at the "organizational structure for larger scale agile organizations." For background, David brings a lot of the theory to the new MSF process and Team Server. David points out there are 6 product units with over 450 people working on Team Server and he's relating his...

Iâve been reading David Andersonâs Agile Management for Software Engineering book. The subtitle âApplying the Theory of Constraints for Business Resultsâ piqued my interest as Iâve been following ToC/Lean in the manufacturing space for some time. We also took the principles of ToC and Lean and applied them to our software...

After reading Billy Hollis' explanation of Visual Basic's OrElse and AndAlso statements, I think it actually made me think less of VB. I vaguely remember studying these for the Microsoft VB5 certification test 8 or 9 years ago. This is why the following statement doesn't short circuit and causes a runtime error if Value[index]...

I decided to blog this collapsable list after digging it up recently for another project. The idea is very simple and cleans up processing lists that may result in long/unsightly output on a web page. The code is very simple and straight-forward, no AJAX here - just complete client-side management of the list display. I've removed...
