Measure Map, the blog traffic statistics/analytics application from Adaptive Path, has been acquired by Google, and along with it, Jeffery Veen will head up the Google Measure Map Team. Sheesh, between Yahoo! and Google acquisitions, I wonder if there will be any indy Web apps left by the end of the decade. I signed up for a beta Measure Maps...

No fancy, marketing double-talk. No buzzword hype. Just the real-deal from the talented folks who conceive and build the most popular apps on the Web. Even the format is plain text. Things to look out for when building a large application Put RSS everywhere you can. del.icio.us does way more RSS traffic than HTML or API stuff - partly because...

There seems to be no ebb to the tide of so-called Web 2.0 sites, nor the flow of buzzwords that surround all the hype. Even the bloggers who complain about it are getting tiresome. Now it seems even the old-fashioned printed book is going beta. Enter Rough Cuts, from the O'Reilly Network. Now don't get the wrong idea, I'm no foe of Tim, nor do...

I'm not a graphic designer, not by any stretch of the imagination. I can fire up Photoshop and do a few things. I also know enough CSS to be dangerous. But that's about it. By now, unless you are a first time visitor, you've probably come to the conculsion that I'm a bit of a nut when it comes to icons, especially those tiny little 16x16 pixel...

A little birdie told me that the rumor on the street is that Zend and Oracle are in talks over the purchase of the PHP scripting language that so dominates open-source Web development. I'm not a lawyer, and I'm not even sure who "owns" PHP, but I do know that Oracle has been very supportive of open-source and PHP. What would this mean for the...

My first true love as a language, and although I don't use it much for Web stuff, I do still use it quite a bit. In fact I have a whole bin/cron directory full of Perl scripts. I love Perl! From the creator of the Perl Advent Calendar, launching Valentine's Day, comes LovePerl. Via O'Reilly Radar.
