It’s Saturday afternoon, the day after the conference, and I’m still reeling from the buzz I’ve gotten from attending the two days of Canada on Rails. I need to get this off my chest — to sing the ode to human warmth and camaraderie that was permeating the entire conference. I cannot tell you how many [...]

Tagged with no less than 8 tags (Zen, Ruby on Rails, Art, End-user experience, Simplicity, Smart servant, Music, Software), it is a telling sign of how complex the conference has been. Cramming 15 speakers in two days proved to be a bit [...]

If you’d like to review what I’ve presented tonight (April 13, 2006), here is the presentation in its entirety: Less Technology - The Ruby and Rails Revolution. For Firefox...

Anyone who is not into status quo should be grateful to the 37 signals crew for their uncompromising thinking, writing, acting, and teaching. Today I read a very succinct and significant proclamation, made by the 37 signals core member Ryan Singer, that “making painful software is mean.” This is a very profound and far reaching...

Patrick Costello (guitar and banjo instructor) wrote a beautiful little reminder on his web site: The songs taught me about music and they taught me how to connect with people. I learned early on that being able to dredge up an old tune from somebody’s past can get you out of trouble in more ways than [...]

I’ve recently visited Amy Hoy’s revamped site, and found this sentence in her “Who?” section: Ruby makes me smile. What a perfect way to describe the very unique Ruby experience! Tagged by the community as being “decidedly right-brained”, Amy has a penchant for digging up words and phrases that capture the...
