(Warning: this post concerns Californian citizens.) I have been standing out of US politics for now, but I think this one is not a political issue but more a moral one. Prop 8 is a proposition that wants to define marriage only between a man and a woman. It obviously excludes same-sex people to get married, and it also reverts the right that...

Nearly 9 months living in sunny California now. When returning from Japan it was a funny feeling to actually return to the US and not Europe. We quickly realized that the bay area was our new home. Living there turns out to be very pleasant. The weather and the very slow way of life make as if it was vacation time. A couple of days ago I...

It has been quite a long time since I wrote here. We have been busy relocating to the US, but we are living there since 5 months now and so far it's a relatively positive experience. We miss things from Europe, but we also discover things that only exist there (or at least do not exist where we used to live). Which is great, in a way. We...

After 2 weeks since the project was officially introduced, the first version of MacRuby has just been released. The announcement is available here. Many bugs were fixed (those entered in the tracker are here), and features were added too, enough of them to be able to run a few nice samples. Even if the project is still experimental, it's an...

MacRuby, a version of Ruby that runs on top of Objective-C, is now available for testing! You can get more information on the website: MacRuby. It is currently very experimental, but a first release is expected very soon!

ruby+objc (briefly introduced here, and yes I still need a better name) uses a new garbage collector, the same that has just been introduced with the new version of the Objective-C runtime in Leopard. The collector is generational, and uses write barriers to filter modifications inside the object store and therefore quickly collect generations...

I have recently been working on a new project, called for the moment ruby+objc (I know I need a better name), and it's now time to write a little about it. ruby+objc can be seen as a new flavor of Ruby that runs on the Objective-C runtime. It's basically a modified version of the existing Ruby 1.9 branch. This is something I wanted to do since...

RubyCocoa 0.13.0 was just released, after 3 months of development. Check out the announcement message for more details about the changes. I also took the opportunity to release RubyInject, since it depends on RubyCocoa 0.13.0. First release, not really tested except by me very quickly, enjoy :-)
