help, i need to know how ACM last year coded this problem!!

I was wondering how this is done in JAVA. I havent coded in 2yrs so i forgot how to implement the syntax. ACM had this done last year. How would you do this with linked List JAVA API? Thanks http://socalcontest.acm.org/prev_probs/2002/pvr.pdf
