A typical AST view of a MIDP class in an application might look like this:

CompilationUnit
ImportDeclaration
Name:javax.microedition.midlet
ImportDeclaration
Name:javax.microedition.lcdui
TypeDeclaration
ClassOrInterfaceDeclaration(Me)(class)
ExtendsList
ClassOrInterfaceType:MIDlet
ClassOrInterfaceBody
ClassOrInterfaceBodyDeclaration
ConstructorDeclaration:(public)
FormalParameters
ClassOrInterfaceBodyDeclaration
MethodDeclaration:(public)
ResultType
MethodDeclarator:startApp
FormalParameters
Block
ClassOrInterfaceBodyDeclaration
MethodDeclaration:(public)
ResultType
MethodDeclarator:pauseApp
FormalParameters
Block
ClassOrInterfaceBodyDeclaration
MethodDeclaration:(public)
ResultType
MethodDeclarator:destroyApp
FormalParameters
FormalParameter:(package private)
Type
PrimitiveType:boolean
VariableDeclaratorId:unconditional
Block

This is of course a correct MIDlet class. Bascially, I want to test for the absence of specific items such as ClassType, in this case MIDlet. Other items to check for the absence of are MethodDeclarators such as destroyApp, pauseApp, and startApp.
