I've been poking around the Ning site. Firts off, it is confusing as hell to get around. Second, while iy looks interesting, this FAQ entry is not encouraging:

 

What open standards does Ning support?

 

We support a broad set of open standards and formats to make getting in and out of Ning as easy as possible. These standards include well-known acronyms such as: PHP, HTML, JSTL, RSS, Atom, REST, SOAP, OPML, XSPF, SFTP

 

Ah, yes, the PHP standard. And REST; is that an ISO standard, or is it from ECMA?
