I am not sure what you are looking for with the PDF-417 but there are a few options with creating this 2D barcode. The first is to decide what density you would like in the barcode. It ranges from low, medium and high density. The second is calculating the X:Y ratio you would like. The common is 1:3. The last is to figure the PDF security level you would like. That can range from level 1 to level 8. Level 2 is usually the default. By the way, a great place for Barcode Labels is http://www.adazonusa.com and they can have a number of variables even in a specific symbology. You can test the symbologies using the Hand Held Products Imagers found here: http://www.adazonusa.com/3800lrrimager-p-2267.html

You might want to go to Barcode Software, where I believe they have information on 2d barcode, barcode creators, and more.

Thanks,
David
