Are there any performance degradations during runtime when an application is compiled with 'debug=true'? I see for example that the JBoss-binaries by default are compiled with 'debug=true'.

There probably are but when you have a stack trace thrown, that info is crucial. I don't think it's a big deal though based on the fact that I've never (to my recollection) seen anyone claim that you should compile without it.

There is no performance overhead (beyond a slight increase in jar file size.)
